CAS Assessment Course Description
New school year, new caseload, and CAS is one of the diagnoses most SLPs feel least confident walking into. This is where that changes.
In this fast paced, 2.5 hour live training, you'll get a clear and practical walk through of what CAS actually is, how it's characterized, and exactly what to look for during an evaluation.
We'll cover what CAS is and how it differs from other pediatric speech sound disorders, the core characteristics that define it, a full walk through of the assessment process from start to finish, and the specific criteria needed to support a diagnosis.
This course provides PDH, not ASHA CEUs. Please confirm PDH satisfies your own continuing education requirements before registering.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define apraxia and describe how Childhood Apraxia of Speech differs from other pediatric speech sound disorders.
- Identify the three core characteristics of CAS as defined by ASHA, often referred to as the ASHA 3.
- Describe the criteria necessary to support a positive diagnosis of CAS.
CAS Treatment Course Description
New school year, new caseload, and there's a good chance CAS is already on it. This is where you walk in with an actual plan instead of hoping it comes together as you go.
In this fast paced, 2.5 hour live training, we're skipping the theory heavy fluff and getting straight into real treatment approaches for Childhood Apraxia of Speech. You'll learn how to target the core characteristics of CAS directly in therapy, get a full walk through of the DTTC, Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing, hierarchy, and finally understand the motor learning principles that should be driving every decision you make in session.
Two and a half hours. One clear plan you can use the next time CAS walks into your caseload.
This course provides PDH, not ASHA CEUs, so confirm that fits your continuing education needs before you register.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Describe treatment approaches used to address the core characteristics of CAS in therapy.
2. Outline the DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing) hierarchy and how it's applied across a treatment session.
3. Identify principles of motor learning and explain how they inform treatment planning and session structure for CAS.
