Course Abstract

This course equips speech-language pathologists with the knowledge and tools to jump-start therapy for young children with highly unintelligible speech and limited phonetic inventories.

Participants will explore the concept of stimulability, including how it influences speech sound acquisition and why it is a powerful predictor of therapy success.

We will break down the primary purpose, target population, and structure of the Miccio & Elbert (1996) stimulability program, and demonstrate how incorporating Bjorem Speech Sound Cues as the recommended character cues is an ideal way to create engaging, multi-sensory therapy sessions.

Join me and get ready to boost sound repertoires in young children with limited phonetic inventories using this engaging, research-supported approach.
