Jennie’s area of expertise is in parent education and childhood apraxia of speech. She currently carries a small caseload of children with CAS. Jennie is the owner of Bjorem Speech Publications with a mission of creating diverse, inclusive, functional products.

A recent survey collected by Bjorem Speech indicated that over 80% of SLP's do not feel confident assessing and treating CAS. During this course we will outline the characteristics of CAS and how they differentiate from other speech disorders and how that impacts a differential diagnosis. We will walk through the evaluation process, learn how to choose targets and write goals that support a motor planning speech disorder. We learn about the different treatment approaches available for CAS with a large focus being on DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing). We will dig in and learn the Principles of Motor Learning and the importance of being purposeful in therapy with PML. Multi-sensory cueing strategies will be discussed as well as how to incorporate cueing into therapy.

In this course, we will review the evidence-based intervention of DTTC, best practices for choosing targets and how to collect data, because yes it is different. Knowing the Principles of Motor Learning and how to implement for therapy in children with childhood apraxia of speech is an intricate partof success. This course will outline the principles, including high repetitions, practice distribution and variability, schedule of practice and feedback types and variability.

This course will give participants a great understanding of these principles, how to implement them and why it is important to consciously practice them.
